The Laxey Glen is set in the beautiful Laxey Gardens and reopened in October 2018. The cafe is quite small with four tables and a sofa area with a coffee table but it is absolutely stunning with a welcoming, friendly atmosphere.
The Laxey Glen also has plenty of outdoor seating which is brilliant on a beautiful day. Well-behaved dogs are allowed inside if they are on a lead; there are water bowls, dog biscuits and blankets available for them.
Access into the cafe is easy and there’s space to leave a pram if you’ve got one with you. They have two wooden highchairs with trays and the staff are brilliant with children. There are activities for children such as wooden blocks, giant playing cards and drafts. During the school holidays there are some additional activities like gingerbread man decorating and trails around the glen (activities are advertised on their Facebook page).
The food and drinks at The Laxey Glen are amazing and the portion sizes are good. The prices are very reasonable, for example a full English breakfast costs £7.50; a sandwich with 3x fillings is £6 and fish and chips costs £10. The children’s menu consists of chicken or fish goujons (£2), sausage (£1) (all served with salad or you can add chips for an additional £2) and sandwiches (£4). They will even make a babycino for the little ones to enjoy. If you’re not in the mood for a full meal then you have to try Martha and Molly’s cakes as they are absolutely delicious!
Baby changing facilities can be found in the accessible toilet and it’s big enough if you need to take the pram in with you. There is a drop-down changing table with a strap and an additional padded changing mat if you want to use it. Upstairs there are additional male and female toilets (have a look at the sign pictured below showing where the toilets are – it made me laugh!) which also have drop-down changing tables.
We love coming to The Laxey Glen and it’s become quite a regular spot for us. I highly recommend a visit!
