[UPDATED JULY 26, 2020]
Sunset Lakes is a truly unique place with fishing lakes, a tackle shop, holiday accommodation and a cafe and play area. The cafe was closed for a short while but has now reopened under new management (July 2020) and I couldn’t be happier!
The cafe has seating both indoors and outdoors (under cover) with easy access and plenty of room if you had your pram with you. It was great to see at least seven wooden highchairs so this could be a good place for a group of parents to meet. Sunset Lakes Cafe offers Sunday carvery and is open Wednesday to Saturday with a lunch menu being served from 10am. The children’s menu includes sandwiches and hot meals such as pasta, pizza, chicken nuggets and hotdogs all priced at £4.95. The main menu is filled with mouth-watering options such as flatbreads, ciabattas, sliders, wedges and salads with prices varying from around £6 to £10 per dish. There is so much choice that I’m sure everyone will find something to suit (Gluten free options availabe). I would recommend you book a table as it is very popular.
The baby changing facilities in the accessible toilet are big and very clean with a drop down changing table.
As well as lovely food, drinks and friendly staff, Sunset Lakes Cafe has an amazing play area outdoors. There is plenty of equipment for the children to enjoy such as slides, a wobbly bridge, a huge chalkboard and boat (to name a few).
It’s worth mentioning that dogs are only allowed outside the front of the cafe on a grassy area with picnic tables but they are not allowed in the cafe, play area or around the fishing lakes.
I think the children’s menu is excellent value for money, the play area is a lot of fun and the setting is stunning so I’ve given Sunset Lakes Cafe and Play Area a rating of ‘amazing‘.
