There’s a lot out there for kids but maybe you’re looking for something a little closer to home… This guide will give you an idea of some of the things out there for kids which are either made right here on the Isle of Man or is somehow related to the Isle of Man.
You may have seen it out and about at various shows (it’s even been turned into a musical?!). Isle of Man ABC produces various items relating to the ‘M is for Manx Cat’ book including tea towels, postcards and more!
It’s been around a while but if you’ve somehow been living under a rock… here is a great game to play with the family just before you have a massive argument and the board gets flipped upside down. Plus you could own Isle of Man Steam Packet!
Just look at how incredible these are?! They are by ‘Handmade with Love by Jules’ and although they are amazing, they’re also in demand and so sadly the order book is full for 2020. Orders are being taken for 2021 though!
We’ve got one of these kits and our eldest (4) really loves it. It really managed to spark her imagination. Currently there are mermaid, pirate, safari and fairy garden play kits available!
Apart from being an incredible name, Wooden It Be Beautiful makes some fantastic items but we LOVE their Christmas stuff. There are Father Christmas sacks & plates as well as some great decorations for the family.
Ah children’s parties… cocktail sausages, sweets, blackcurrant squash and loud noises. There is also usually a lot of waste with paper plates and flimsy plastic cutlery… but that’s where Eco-Party comes in. You can hire party gear to use, clean and give back for others to use. You can even get reusable ‘pass the parcel’ wrapping and hire party games. Love this.
The sequel to the original which came out a few years ago. This version was released during lockdown but it was fairly quiet as there was no TT this year (sad face). New bikes and improved performance, it could be worth a little play. This of course, is not just for kids….
Manx National Heritage has lots of stories inspired by the Isle of Man. Ever wanted to know what pig is in Manx? Get The First Thousand Words in Manx and you’ll find out that it’s muc. Yessir!
What’s more Manx than a Viking? OK maybe a Manx cat but a Viking is still up there. Did you know that there is no evidence that Vikings didn’t actually have horns on their helmets? It’s one of my pet peeves but I’ll make an exception this time…
Well, there you have it, some top Manx gifts for some top Manx kids. Hopefully there will be something there for everyone but there are many more sellers out there and we’ve linked some good resources below. Remember we have done the same for Isle of Man gifts specifically for grown ups if you’re looking to keep it local for the older ones too!
