Environmentally friendly parties that don’t cost the earth

Kit and the Kaboodle

Kit and the Kaboodle offer environmentally friendly (and beautifully designed) party-ware for hire across the Island.

How many times have you arranged a party for your little one, or been to a party which had throw away plastic cutlery, paper plates, one-use cups and a throw away tablecloth?

In this day of increased sustainability and the demise of single-use plastics, people and companies are thinking differently about how we’ve always done things and one of those companies is Kit and the Kaboodle.

Who are Kit and the Kaboodle?

Created earlier 2021, Dawn and James thought enough was enough and formed the company to offer some environmentally friendly party-ware for hire which doesn’t ‘cost the earth’ (see what they did there..? Clever eh). The beautifully designed plates, bowls, cutlery and more can be hired, used for a party and then returned for someone else to use.

We are keen recyclers (is that a word?) and have previously posted about reusable wipes and reusable nappies and so this is right up our street.

What do they offer?

They offer a variety of designs for both kids and adults (or a mixture of both) and can cater for parties and get togethers. The standard pack contains 12 plates, 12 bowls, 12 cups, 12 sets of cutlery, 2 salad bowls (or crisp bowls if you’re unhealthy like us) and 2 jugs.

You can also add beautiful fabric bunting for decoration and fabric party crowns and a colour-able in-able tablecloth to add that little bit of fun to the food part of party.

We were given a mixed set of kids and adults party-ware to try out for the weekend and invited some family around to test them out. We collected the box from Port St Mary with no hassle and unpacked it all the night before our little get together to see our goodies. There is a little sheet with everything listed so that you know how much and what to put back once you’re finished!

What do we think?

The designs are so much fun (especially the kids ones) and the bamboo material makes them very sturdy for little hands. They went down a storm and we had lots of comments about what a good idea they are. The favourite item of the day was the tablecloth which comes with fabric felt tips to colour in the monsters. Even the grown ups were getting involved!

When it came to packing away, everything needed to be washed but it is dishwasher safe so it all went in there. For a small additional charge, Kit and the Kaboodle will do this for you so you just throw everything back into the box for them to do!

Although we just used them in our house, the items are lightweight and sturdy enough to be taken out and about for a BBQ or picnic around the beautiful Isle.

We think it’s such a great idea to reduce waste and make parties that little bit more sophisticated by taking away those horrible paper plates and cups. Prices vary depending on what you need but start from just £15. Get in touch with them via Facebook to book in!
