With a name like New Cod on the Block, we obviously had to visit and after a day at Onchan Park, it seemed like as good a time as any. Previously Fryers Fish and Chip Shop, it changed it’s name in April 2022 and is located in Village Walk, Onchan.

The play area at Western Swimming Pool opened in August 2020 and is absolutely brilliant for children of all ages. There are two enclosed areas, one of which is suitable for children aged 8 years old and under. The equipment is really different to anything else I’ve seen on the island – have a look through the pictures below.
Both play areas have picnic benches.
An added benefit of this play area is the pool café on site, Cafe West. They’ve thought about the extra custom expected in the café and will give you a numbered pager which buzzes and beeps when your food is ready so that you can play in the park whilst you wait!
