St Marks Country Park

St Marks Country Park is a working farm open to the public at weekends and during the school holidays (check their Facebook page for specific days / times as they can change). Admission prices are currently £6 for adults, £4 for kids (under 12) and free for under 2s.

How to get there & Access

It is well signposted but is along some single track roads with passing places. Head towards St Marks from wherever you and follow the signposts. The car park is big and free.

Access to the Park is good and pram friendly, although it is a farm so expect some mud, puddles and potholes along the way. If you’re visiting in the winter or after some rain then some wellies are probably recommended.

Activities

There is plenty to do and see including a large selection of animals. From the classics like chickens, sheep (lambs in the spring), donkeys and rabbits to the more unusual animals to see on a farm like parrots, canaries, snakes and a good selection of wallabies!

As well as the animals, St Marks Country Park also has a barn full of fun including a bouncy castle, numerous wendy houses, ride on vehicles, rocking horses, a sand pit, a climbing wall, darts and a room upstairs with games and a chalk wall.

Outside there is a play area with swings, some rockers, a tunnel and some fun slides, one of which is part of a ’fun house’ style wooden structure.

There is also a tractor ride (for an additional £2) which goes all over the park for kids over three. Adults aren’t allowed in the little trailers but one adult can stand in the chariot at the back (which is pretty fun in itself).

Food & Drinks

There is a café on site with a variety of the usual food on offer (cheese toasties, chips, sausages). They usually have deals on including a kids meal deal (with drink, yoghurt and jelly) so ask to find out what’s on.

There is tea and coffee available (instant variety, don’t be expecting barista style) as well as a selection of cold drinks.

Facilities

Toilets are on-site with a block outside (outside the café area) and a disabled one in the café which has a changing table and step-stool to the sink.

There are also a few highchairs around for littler ones.

Summary

A fun morning or afternoon out with the family. They seem to be building on it each time we visit which is nice to see and means we get to see something new each time!
