The Mangrove Café

Requires paid entry to Curraghs Wildlife Park

The Mangrove Café (opened February 2020) is located at Curraghs Wildlife Park with views of spider monkeys and flamingos against the distant hills. The café was given a much-needed makeover and it is now almost unrecognisable! To use the café, you will have to pay admission to the Wildlife Park but can gain ‘free’ admission with an annual membership (current pricing can be found by clicking here).

Access

The café is easily accessible for prams and has a lot of space inside to manoeuvre and park prams beside each table. The six Ikea highchairs are a good height for the tables and tuck under nicely saving you from having to pick up copious amounts of dropped food.

Food & Drink

The menu consists of a range of items, all very reasonably priced. The children’s menu ranges from £3 to £4.50 with things such as sandwiches, pasta, sausages and chicken nuggets. We were really impressed with the ‘kiddies sandwich deal’ of half a sandwich, crisps, yogurt and a carton of juice for just £3.50. As well as hot food for the adults (prices range from £4.95-£8.95), you can also have sandwiches/paninis from just £3.25.

They also have a good selection of baby food and healthy toddler snacks which is a welcome change to the usual crisps and chocolate.

I felt the food, service and value for money were very good and made a welcome change from the previous café. Don’t forget you will receive 10% off hot food and hot drinks with a valid annual membership card.

Toilets and Baby change

A drop-down changing table can be found in the accessible toilet and, although absolutely freezing in the winter, is big enough if you needed to take the pram in with you. They’re not the greatest toilets but they do the job!

Activities

In the winter time, there is an indoor soft play area for younger kids which is great for them to have a little run around in without worrying about them getting hurt. It’s located within the grounds of the Wildlife Park and so there are plenty of things for the children to see and do with the Enchanted Playground right next door.

Summary

I think the new café is fantastic and it will certainly make us visit the Curraghs Wildlife Park more frequently.
